Opticians team lend support to charity Eye Ball
A team from Specsavers, in Wide Bargate, were among the guests to attend the Ophthalmology Charity Eyeball, held recently at The Poachers Country Hotel, in Kirton Holme.
It was organised by the Eyeball committee from The Royle Eye Department, at Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital. It raised about £3,000 for the eye department through ticket sales, donations, and a raffle – money which whill go towards buying additional medical equipment.
Among the raffle items was a pair of designer sunglasses worth £147 donated by the Specsavers store.
Danielle Moore, sister in charge of the eye department, said: “It was a fantastic evening and great fun was had by all.”
Store director Amy Marshall said: “We had a wonderful evening and are delighted for the hospital with the amount raised.
“It was fantastic to be able to contribute towards that in some way, to help eye care in Boston be at the cutting edge of current practice.”
