Harmston Young Farmers light up for Christmas tractor run

Families and households should look out on December 28 as Harmston Young Farmers Club light up for their annual Christmas tractor run.

Tractors driven by club members and supporters will be meeting from 3pm at Windpump Farm, on Heath Road, Boothby Graffoe and leaving the yard at around 4pm to head around surrounding villages including Metheringham, Dunston, Coleby, Navenby, Boothby Graffoe, Nocton, Wellingore, Harmston and Waddington.

Charlotte Walker from the club explained: “This year we are raising money for forage aid which is a charity that was set up in Lincolnshire by local farmers, they provide aid for livestock farmers around the country who have been devastated by weather events and events beyond their control.

"They are an amazing and well worthwhile charity for us to raise money for this year.”

She said they were hoping to have between 40-60 tractors – all lit up and festively decorated - but they will know for sure once booking forms are all in.

Each driver will make a donation to join in and you can donate online at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/harmston-youngfarmers

Forage Aid was set up by farmers themselves in 2013 to help farms in the UK that had been hit by heavy snow and were struggling to feed their livestock. Since then, Forage Aid has helped over 150 farms across the UK by sourcing and coordinating more than £850,000 worth of goods and services donated by fellow farmers, businesses and other charities.

The club said each contribution is not just a donation; it is a lifeline that ensures farmers can provide for their animals during times of need.
