Video of dramatic scenes as combine harvester ablaze on busy road near Sleaford

Three fire crews were needed when a combine harvester burst into flames on a busy road at Anwick yesterday (Wednesday) evening.

The blaze was reported just before 6pm on the A153 and caused considerable damage to the machine and 40sqm of the road, according to a report from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Videos and photos were taken by Geoff bates of Anwick and P. Dolan BUilders who were among the waiting traffic at the time and explosions can be heard from overheating tyres.

The road between Anwick and North Kyme was blocked temporarily with traffic queuing while emergency services were on the scene and the debris was cleared.

Fire crews from Sleaford, Billinghay and Metheringham attended and put the flames out using two hose reels, a main jet and firefighting foam, while wearing breathing apparatus.
