Plans for drive-thru coffee shop and car wash facilities near Mablethorpe school

Plans have been submitted for a drive-thru coffee shop and car wash facilities near a town school.

Kinetic Hub SPV3 Ltd wants permission to build a drive-thru coffee shop on vacant land next to Mablethorpe Primary Academy, between Tuplin Road and Alford Road, with plans now lodged with East Lindsey District Council.

But there are already calls for the applicant to demonstrate that the facility won’t increase congestion in the area.

Lincolnshire County Council’s highways department has asked the applicant to provide more information about how the facility will operate safely within the road network.

The highways authority also called for more details on the arrival rates, service times, queue accumulation and the impact of this capacity being exceeded.

It also asked the applicant to clarify whether staff parking will be provided and whether proportionate staff travel and parking arrangements would be put in place to ease congestion.

The applicant’s planning documents describe the scheme as ‘an attractive, functional and sustainable commercial development’.

They add: “The proposal responds positively to the character of the site, provides safe access for all users and delivers environmental and economic benefits.

“It is considered to represent an appropriate form of development that will contribute positively to Tuplin Road and the wider Mablethorpe area.”

The proposed development – to be accessed off Tuplin Road – also features four jet wash bays, associated parking and two Electric Vehicle charging spaces

The district council is expected to make a decision on the application at a later date.
