TEN YEARS AGO: Initiative to clear walkways of sand launches

The effort followed a year of lobbying by beach enthusiast Paul Marshall, who relied on the use of a mobility scooter due to chronic arthritis.

It involved Skegness Town Centre management, volunteers from the Salvation Army’s Witham Lodge, the Environment Agency, and residents.

“Some sections of the Sea View Walk have been completely blocked off for seven years by sand and bushes,” Mr Marshall said. “In the past I’ve had to detour along roads for much of the journey to Ingoldmells, as have families with buggies and most cyclists.”
