Classic pieces from classic Kubrick films in one evening

A special concert of music from the most famous films of Stanley Kubrick is taking place at Caistor Methodist Church this week.

Part of the Lincolnshire International Chamber Music Festival, the concert will see a collection of musicians playing a selection of key works heard in films like A Clockwork Orange, Eyes Wide Shut, Barry Lyndon and 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Trio Apaches will open with the William Tell Overture before pianist Mei Yi Foo plays Liszt’s Nuages gris, S. 199, Handel’s Sarabande from Suite in D minor, HWV 437 and Ligeti’s Musica Ricerata No. 2.

The Piatti String Quartet will then play Strauss’ The Blue Danube Op. 314 before the evening is rounded off with Schubert’s piano trio in E flat major, D.929 with Kathryn Stott (piano), Matthew Trusler (violin) and Marc Coppey (cello).

The concert is on Friday, August 19 at 7.30pm and tickets priced £17, £16 and £6 are available on the door, subject to availability.
