Sheffield Crucible: Macbeth. Runs until Saturday 6th October. Main performance 7.15pm Macbeth, Shakespeare’s psychological thriller of irrepressible ambition, is a potent cocktail of deception, witchcraft and murder. Join us and be drawn into the minds of a couple who will stop at nothing in their unscrupulous crusade for power.This compelling, large-scale production, directed by Sheffield Theatres’ Artistic Director Daniel Evans, is staged in-the-round. The 16-strong cast is led by Geoffrey Streatfeild (Spooks) in the role of the Macbeth and Claudie Blakley (Lark Rise to Candleford) as his manipulative and driven wife. Tickets £17-£25.

Nottingham Theatre Royal: Bouncers. Runs until Saturday 29th September. Performance Friday 8.30pm, Saturday 8pm. It’s disco night! All over town the preparations start early... hair is gelled back, outfits selected and handbags are at the ready. Down at the disco the DJ croons into his microphone, on the dance floor the night-clubbers gyrate to the pulsating beat....Outside stand the watching, waiting and ever ready... Lucky Eric, Judd, Les and Ralph - The Bouncers! Starring Ace Bhatti (­EastEnders, Spooks, New Tricks), Don Gilet (Babyfather, 55 Degrees North, EastEnders and a stage career at the National Theatre), William Ilkley (Hollyoaks, Holby City, Emmerdale, The Royal), and Ian Reddington (EastEnders, Coronation Street and fresh from starring in the UK tour of We Will Rock You). Sheffield Lyceum: Chicago. Runs until Saturday 29th September. Performance 8.30pm, Saturday 7.45pm. Based on real life events back in the roaring 1920s, nightclub singer Roxie Hart shoots her lover and, together with Cell Block rival, double-murderess Velma Kelly, fights to keep herself from death row with the help of smooth talking lawyer, Billy Flynn. Created by the musical theatre talents of John Kander, Fred Ebb and legendary choreographer Bob Fosse, Chicago’s sexy, sassy score includes All That Jazz and Razzle Dazzle. Tickets £22-£32.

Sheffield Studio: The Village Bike. Runs until Saturday 6th October. Performance: 7.45pm. A a daring and hilarious play about moving to the countryside, making babies and sorting out a plumber. Contains adult content and scenes of a sexual nature. Tickets £10-18.

SATURDAY

Worksop Acorn Theatre: The Ragdolls. Performance 7.45pm. The Ragdolls will take you on a musical journey through the well known career of one of the most successful bands of all time, Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons. The locally based group led by Shane Perkins have just completed the summer season at the Blackpool Pier show, recreating the iconic Jersey Boys sound. Tickets £10.

Retford Majestic Theatre: And Finally - Phill Collins. Performance: 7.30pm. After four years of successful touring, ‘And Finally’ have firmly established themselves as the ultimate tribute to the music of Phil Collins. This eleven piece band is fronted by ‘Stars In Your Eyes’ grand finalist Pete Bultitude, who is the voice of Mr Collins. This year the show has recreated the ‘Both Sides Tour’ of 1994 adding new songs such as… I Don’t’ Care Any More, Missed Again, Every Day, We Wait And We Wonder, Rain Down On Me, and Both Sides Of The Story in addition to performing the classic hits In The Air Tonight, Sussudio and Easy Lover... a full two hours plus of Phil Collins’ solo career. Tickets £16.50.

Sheffield Lyceum: The Ladykillers. Runs until Saturday 6th October. Performance: 7.45pm. Posing as amateur musicians, Professor Marcus and his gang rent rooms in the lopsided house of sweet but strict Mrs Wilberforce. The villains plot to involve her unwittingly in Marcus’ brilliantly conceived heist job. The police are left stumped, but Mrs Wilberforce becomes wise to their ruse and Marcus concludes that there is only one way to keep the old lady quiet. With only her parrot, General Gordon, to help her, Mrs W. is alone with five desperate men. But who will be forced to face the music? Starring Michele Dotrice (Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em), Clive Mantle (Casualty and The Vicar of Dibley) and Shaun Williamson (EastEnders and Extras). Tickets £15-28.

Nottingham Theatre Royal: The Rise and Fall of Little Voice. Runs until Saturday 6th October. Performance: 7.30pm, selected matinees. . In this heart-warming fairytale, shy Little Voice spends most of her time hidden away with her late father’s record collection, perfecting her astonishing impersonations. Her extraordinary talent remains a secret until she is overheard by local talent scout Ray Say. Determined to hit the big time, Ray sets about creating the show of the century with Little Voice as his star. When the big night arrives, Ray is convinced that this is his last chance for fame and fortune. But has anyone asked Little Voice what she wants?
