He told members how the life of a mole is between three and four years. They eat 20 worms a day. Only half their offspring survive.

David Rout, joint show secretary, gave out this year’s show schedule and encouraged all members to enter.

He hoped children would enter the junior sections.

Club president Doreen Holmes thanked Brian Churchill, Pat Newsum, Liz Gilliland, Dawn Mutti and Leo Boshier for joining her in growing plants over the last five years for Woodhall Spa Village in Bloom .

This month’s meeting is in St Peter’s Hall on March 18 at 7.30pm, when Tony Leech will be talking on witches and devils.
