New band releases debut single after forming just four months ago

A BAND which formed just five months ago released its debut single When The Wind Blows recently.

Solas was created by Mark Robotham, of Woolsthorpe-by-Colsterworth.

The duo is made up of him and singer Shona Allen, from Norfolk. They got together after he put one of his tracks on the internet asking for someone to sing on it.

Mark said: “I was absolutely chuffed when Shona got back to me. It’s a bit time consuming working at a distance but it’s working out alright so far and I haven’t even met her yet!”

Mark, who writes a lot of the music and produces and arranges the tracks, decided to try and get into the music industry after being made redundant from Grantham firm Wordsworth Holdings. The Solas work is a bit different from his usual dance tracks.

He said: “It’s more inspirational than anything else. It’s more synth/pop. It’s like a cross between Enya and Erasure.”

He hopes that in five months they will have completed the album.

So far the reaction to the track, which is available on Amazon and iTunes, has been good.

Mark said: “The people that have heard it seem to really like it. I’d hopefully like to make a career out of it.”
