Bassetlaw man who ‘happily’ wasted police time also told a court to ‘f*** off’

A Bassetlaw man who "happily" admitted wasting police time with nuisance calls, also told a court to f*** off and said he would rather go to prison.

Jake Williams bombarded the emergency services with calls between March 20 and April 2, said Lucy Woodcock, prosecuting.

"Only me from earlier," he said on one occasion. "I'm just looking for my razor blades to get this done."

In another he said: "I am going to need an escort to Worksop hospital tomorrow because they have been dismissive of me."

When challenged by a call handler, Williams, aged 31, said he was "happily wasting a bit of police time" and claimed he had been blocked by 999.

The court heard he has one previous conviction for an unrelated matter.

Williams, who represented himself, told magistrates he disagreed with the prosecution's case, and the contents of a probation report.

"A lot of it has been deliberately missed out," he said, and claimed he had been told to "f*** off and grow up" by mental health services staff.

Williams also emailed the court to tell them to f*** off and said he would rather go to prison.

When asked if he would comply with unpaid work, he said: "I am not suitable for unpaid work or slave labour or whatever it is called.”

Williams, of Freemans Lane, Sturton le Steeple, denied persistently making use of a public communication network to cause annoyance but was convicted after a trial at Nottingham Magistrates Court, on November 11.

He received a 12-month conditional discharge. He was ordered to pay £200 towards the £620 costs of his trial and a £26 surcharge.
