Council warns beachgoers about 'fraudulent' activity at public toilets in Lincolnshire
Residents and visitors are being warned about people posing as “unauthorised” toilet attendants in Mablethorpe.
East Lindsey District Council issued the public notice on Tuesday, July 7, stating they had received reports of people posing as council workers to take money from the public to use the facilities.

"We have been made aware of individuals attempting to charge people to use the public toilets, including the accessible facilities, on Central Promenade over the weekend,” a spokesperson for the authority said.
“Please be aware that these individuals are not authorised attendants and have no association with East Lindsey District Council or the partner company that manages the facilities.
“The toilets operate using paid-access gates, and users should not hand over money to anyone claiming to be an attendant.”
They added: “If you are approached in this way, please do not give any money and report any suspected fraudulent activity to the police. Thank you for helping us keep our communities safe.”
The council’s post about the issue via its Facebook page caused a bit of a debate – with some commenting that public toilets should be free, while others said they were happy to pay 40p to use the facilities if they are clean and well-kept.
