Top tips on guarding your home after spate of burglaries in Market Rasen, Louth and Welton
Police are warning residents to be on their guard against ‘suspicious’ people knocking on doors and to keep their houses secure following reports of burglaries and attempted burglaries.
On Tuesday (December 16), Lincolnshire Police received three reports of burglaries in Market Rasen, Louth and Welton.
The first is believed to have happened between 7.35pm and 8.05pm at a property on Magna Mile in Ludford, say police. Windows in the conservatory were damaged and keys and a camera were reportedly stolen from the property.
The next one happened around 9pm at a property on St Marys Avenue in Welton. It is not known if anything was stolen from the property, according to police, but damage was reportedly caused to the door.

Just after 9pm at a property on Sycamore Drive in Louth, a sum of cash is said by police to have been taken, along with jewellery and work boots. A wallet was also reportedly taken, but it has since been recovered.
A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said they are also investigating a report of suspicious activity at a property on Beecher’s Way in Market Rasen. “A man reportedly witnessed two men jumping the fence from the garden of the property, getting into a car and driving off. Thankfully no damage was caused, and nothing was reported to have been taken,” they said.
Reports of individuals door knocking around the Welton area, purporting to work with Hello Fresh or a charity, have also been reported to the force.
If you have witnessed any suspicious door knockers or anyone acting suspiciously in your area and have captured CCTV or RING doorbell footage, officers would like to hear from you.

Lincolnshire Police has issued guidance to householders on ways to protect your home from door-to-door fraud with the following tips:
- If someone knocks at your front door claiming to be from a company, check their ID. If you’re not happy, don’t let them in.
- Never call the phone number on a salesperson's ID card to check them out. Ask them to wait outside, shut the door and find the company number on the internet. If they’re genuine, they’ll understand.
- Report suspicious activity to 101 or you can also report this to Report Fraud.
It’s vital to leave your home secure whenever you leave it. Here are some tips on what you should do before you go out:
- Close and lock all your doors and windows, even if you’re only going out for a few minutes. Consider double locking the door.
- Make sure that any valuables are out of sight.
- Lock your shed or garage and make sure you side gate is locked.
