Update released into investigation into welfare concerns at address near Boston; public asked to avoid speculation over case

An update has been released about an investigation into welfare concerns at an address near Boston, which led to two children being taken to hospital and two people arrested.

Officers attended the property on Wednesday (July 8) following ‘concerns for the welfare of children at the address’, Lincolnshire Police said yesterday.

Two children were taken to hospital, they said.

Two people – a woman and a man – were arrested on suspicion of neglect, the spokesman added.

In an update released late yesterday, police said the children remained in hospital, saying they had been taken there for medical treatment.

The man and woman arrested on suspicion of neglect have been bailed with conditions while the investigation continues, they added.

Det Insp Claire Rimmer, who is leading the investigation, said: “As part of our investigation we need to complete a significant number of inquiries. While these are happening, we have released the two people who were arrested on bail, with conditions.

“This is a complex investigation and I ask people not to speculate around the facts as it could lead to evidence being undermined and affect our investigation, which I know no-one would wish for.

“The most important people in this investigation are two children, who have a right to anonymity and the best care anyone can give.”
