Horncastle Police have issued a warning to pet owners in the Thimbleby area after two recent incidents - one of which involved the death of two cats who ingested poison.

A spokesman from Horncastle Police said: “We are sad to have to warn pet owners in the Thimbleby area to be extra vigilant with their animals.

“As you can see the cat in the first two photos has damage to her tail.

“It appears to have been shaved and we are unsure if this is deliberate or accidental.

“The other two cats shown recently passed due to ingestion of poison. This has been extremely distressing for their owners.

“If you are in the Thimbleby area, please keep an extra special eye on your pets, and if you see any suspicious activity ring our non emergency phone number on 101.

“If you use poison to control vermin please be mindful of potential danger to other animals and use with caution, preferably use locations where pets cannot access.”
