Ancaster residents first to learn about home energy improvements
Ancaster residents have been the first to learn more about home energy efficiency improvements set to benefit around 273 council-owned properties in South Kesteven.
The project is a £7.8m investment programme which includes fitting solar panels and low-carbon heating measures.

Gas, electric and solid fuel-heated bungalows and traditionally built houses are being fitted with solar panels and air source heat pumps while new loft and cavity wall insulation to help retain heat is being added.
Energy performance certificate (EPC) ratings are expected to increase to C, when they were previously rated as low as E.

It is estimated improvements could save residents up to £1,400 per year on their energy bills. They’ll also see reduced condensation, mould and humidity in their homes.
A South Kesteven District Council spokesperson said: “These improvements will bring peace of mind at a time when energy costs have been soaring.
“This council’s tenants will see a dramatic drop in their household energy bills because of what we’re doing. So many people will benefit.
“There’s also a positive outcome in terms of the environment - carbon footprints are reduced, and the project supports a greener future for us all in line with government initiatives.”
The project is part-funded by a £4.2m grant from the UK government’s Warm Homes Local Grant scheme and is expected to be complete in August of 2027.
SKDC awarded the contract to Equans Building Ltd, which has completed energy efficiency improvements in 35 properties since the project started in August.
Feedback from residents who have had air source heat pumps installed has been positive. They were happy with the installation process and the savings made relative to the cost of storage heaters.
SKDC held its first Resident Engagement Event in Ancaster and the council was thrilled by the turnout and the positive feedback received.
The event brought together representatives of Equans, SKDC and technical experts from heating, cooling and hot water product developers Vaillant.
The SKDC spokesperson added: “It was a truly collaborative experience, giving tenants the chance to speak directly with the people behind the upgrades.
“We welcomed around 30 residents, some excited about the new installations, others seeking reassurance about the heating systems, the installation process, and the overall delivery of the programme.
“The open dialogue helped build confidence and trust, ensuring everyone left feeling more informed and supported.
“Thanks to the enthusiastic response, we’re looking forward to hosting more events like this - keeping tenants informed and involved every step of the way.”
