It's time to sign up for East Lindsey service that gets rid of your garden waste
Residents in Louth, Mablethorpe, Horncastle and other areas of East Lindsey are being urged to sign up to have their green waste removed and recycled.
East Lindsey District Council operates a green or garden waste service for 12 months, from April to March inclusive, every year. And the time has come to enrol for the 2026/27 service.
For an annual fee of £55, residents will receive 21 green waste collections, although only designated bins, issued and delivered by the council for a one-off £30 fee and stored on residents’ property, will be emptied.
The quickest and easiest way to sign up is via the council’s website at www.e-lindsey.gov.uk/greenwaste

Residents can also do it by phone, but the council is not able to process phone payments until next Monday (January 19).
Green waste, also known as garden or yard waste, is classed as biodegradable, organic matter from gardens, such as grass clippings, leaves, twigs, weeds and flowers, which can be composted or recycled instead of being sent to landfill.
Other examples of green waste include hedge trimmings, prunings, small branches, old plants and chipped bark. Invasive weeds, such as Japanese Knotweed, are NOT classed as green waste that can be recycled.
Current subscribers to the East Lindsey green waste collection service must re-subscribe by Sunday, February 22 to ensure all 21 collections are carried out.
A spokesperson says: “While residents can still subscribe after this date, the start date may be delayed and the full 21 collections cannot be guaranteed, although the cost will remain the same.
“For current subscribers, the final collections for the 2025/26 season will take place during the week ending Sunday, March 29. The subscription period for 2026/27 will begin the week starting Monday, March 30.
“Residents who subscribe by Sunday, February 22 will receive a letter with full details, a collection calendar and a sticker for their bin or bins.

Those who don’t wish to sign up for the service can still get rid of their green waste by visiting one of Lincolnshire County Council’s household waste recycling centres. Alternatively, they could consider sharing a garden waste bin with a neighbour.
