Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to break out on Thursday afternoon in South Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Norfolk.

A Met Office spokesman said: “Not everywhere will see these, but where they do occur, be aware of localised impacts from hail and lightning, as well as heavy rain producing standing water on roads and reduced visibility.

“The showers will slowly die out on Thursday evening.”

The wider forecast for our region is as follows: “An unstable airmass covers much of England and Wales. As early light rain dies out and cloud cover breaks, some sunshine will develop, allowing temperatures to rise.

“This will generate some heavy showers and thunderstorms, perhaps becoming organised into bands and moving slowly northwards.

“Some places will miss the showers whilst nearby locations see over 10mm rainfall in a short space of time, with some standing water on roads and difficult driving conditions. Very locally, hail could quickly produce a covering on roads whilst lightning will be a hazard.”
