Matched against Boston indoor Bowls League rivals Invaders, who were five points ahead before the evening’s game, they finished 11 points behind.

Invaders’ Adam Hodgson put in a great performance to win 23-14 while Cantal Spencer, John Spencer and Rod West, 11-10 ahead at 13 ends, scored on the reamaining eight ends to win 23-10.

Second-placed Carlton Road were given a tough game by Punchbowlers, Iris Reeson, Bunny Reeson and Dave Gill edged out by the Road’s Les Feary.

Bowlers’ new signing Wayne Phoenix, with Jeff Skelton and Ian Drury, tied 14-14 with Andrew Limb, Daniel Harrison and Chris Gill.

The relegation zone is looking congested with five teams separated by five points, Punchbowlers among them.

A40 versus Strollers saw the former picking up the aggregate points, David Rogers, Janet Vinter and Di Wilson Rogers recording an emphatic win of 38-5.

Struggling Red 5 surprised mid-table Jolly Farmers when they picked up the aggregate points by one shot.

Ray Reeson, Rita Epton and Sue Hoyles picked up a hotshot to pull away to succeed 12-23, but this score was surpassed by Red 5’s Colin Price, Mandy Cook and Bob Lody, who scored a maximum on the first end before claiming an impressive 24-11 win.

In the T&B Containers Division Two, Nomads maintained top spot but saw their lead narrowed to three points.

Nomads came up against Jekyll and Hyde team the Golfers, who were having a good day as Barrie Williamson, Norman Ablard and Roy Vinter won 32-11, which covered the reply from Nomads’ Derek Smith (17-22).

Cosmos squeezed four points from their game against bottom team Vikings by just one shot thanks to Andrew Dunnington, who won 22-10.

Vikings must have been very disappointed with the result as they held the aggregate with just two ends remaining overall.

Boston Park were equal on points with Cosmos in second and they were still equal at the end of play with Autos.

Winning well were Ron Thacker, Nigel Taylor and Alan Batchelor (28-10).

Breakaways finished strongly against Dynamics for an overall success of 38-34.

Replying for the Fairways, Heather Scarboro could not match the Shipmates’s score.

Going level on points with the Fairways were the Burtons, who picked up maximum points against Phoenix.

Dave Bailey won 19-13 and Barry Howard triumphed 14-9.

The Saxons moved just one behind the top two when they shared the rink points with Bias, but the trio of Peter Sharman, Margaret Wells and Tony Hall won with plenty to spare 29-12.

Amateurs, four points ahead of their opposition Central before the evening’s play, finished two points behind when they fell on both rinks with and overall success for Central of 37-26.

U3 met Hotspurs, the latter’s trio of Patsy O’Callaghan, Petra Wood and Roy Pepperdine successful 13-18.
