Notts: More than 20 weapons handed in as part of firearms surrender

More than 20 weapons have been handed into Notts Police as part of a firearms surrender.

Weapons are now being verified and checked.

Some of the weapons handed in included three shotguns, four air rifles, two handguns, two imitation weapons and 10 air pistols.

A large quantity of bullets, cartridges and shell casings were also handed in.

These will now be checked for evidence to see if they have been used in crime.

Karen Pearson, Detective Inspector, said: “A surrender is an excellent way of reminding people of the laws around firearms and with changes to laws around antique weapons we were keen to support this national drive.

“Our amnesty in March was the first for 10 years and we had an overwhelming response. Just one weapon off the streets is a success.”
