Keep the peace and enjoy this summer

New PCSO Dan Gilbert has been getting stuck in and making his presence felt by assisting in the arrest of four offenders over the last few weeks. Dan helped his police officer colleagues in the detention of two men wanted for failing to appear at court and two others suspected of being involved in a burglary.

Keeping on the topic of burglary, there has been a decrease in burglaries on our patch. Look out for the Force’s burglary reduction campaign, which launches on 28th June with advice on how to best secure your home and property from thieves.

As the daylight is sticking around for longer, we have started to see an increase in antisocial behaviour.

We all like to enjoy the warm summer evenings but please consider your neighbours when having those barbeques in the backyard or meeting your friends on the street corner.

There have been a number of complaints about groups of people behaving in a noisy, rowdy manner in the neighbourhood. We have increased patrols in a bid to reduce these incidents and encourage those residents affected to report it to us immediately.

Reporting is a theme for the last few weeks after we received a number of calls about strange smells coming from premises and vehicles. These calls have resulted in a number of positive searches whereby quantities of cannabis have been recovered and positive action taken against those involved. Keep those calls coming in to 101.
