Armed Forces veteran Norman releases his debut novel -- at age of 88
An Armed Forces veteran with strong links to Louth has turned his hand to writing and released his debut novel – at the ripe age of 88.
Norman Dunnington, who is a prominent member of Louth Jazz Club and currently its acting chairman, spent 30 years in the Royal Air Force (RAF), leaving as a wing-commander in 1985.
He then joined the legal profession before retiring to Spain in 1999. Grimsby-born Norman returned to Lincolnshire 12 years ago and currently lives in Scartho.
His first book is ‘Strictly Legal’, a gripping blend of legal drama, mystery and intrigue that draws on the knowledge he gained throughout his career and during a richly varied life in which he visited many countries.

Set in the high-pressure world of a prestigious London law firm, what begins as a routine induction for a group of trainee solicitors quickly spirals into something far darker when one of them vanishes without a trace.
Norman says: “At its heart, my novel is more than a mystery. It is a study of character, ambition and the fragile line between professional success and personal vulnerability.”
A fictional tale of suspense, identity and justice, ‘Strictly Legal’ takes readers on an enthralling journey from London to Brazil and Madeira.
Bernard Simpson, a partner in the legal firm, Mortimer, Beale & Conway (MBC), and prime suspect for the killing of legal trainee Julie Matthews, is presumed dead after a devastating air crash.

But then the discovery of his survival reveals a web of secrets, deception and criminal practice. Inspector Harry Fisher tracks Simpson across continents and uncovers his unexpected involvement in drug trafficking.
Meanwhile, Clive Watkins and his family grapple with personal challenges, love and holiday plans, providing a warm human counterpoint to the tense criminal investigation.
Richly detailed and meticulously plotted, the novel offers unique insights into the operations of the legal profession. At the same time, it combines crime, mystery and corporate drama, exploring the moral ambiguities of law, survival and ambition.
With suspense, international settings and fascinating characters, ‘Strictly Legal’ is an original exploration of human resilience and ingenuity, keeping readers riveted until its surprising and satisfying conclusion.
The 234-page paperback book, priced £9.99, is available from Olympia Publishers in London
