James Clarke, 25, is taking on the test of endurance on Tuesday, August 4, in tribute to the heroism shown by NHS staff and volunteers during the coronavirus pandemic.

Starting at Boston, he will cycle to Louth, Lincoln, Grantham, and Spalding, before returning home, stopping outside all of the hospital sites en route to clap for two minutes.

James has called the effort ‘A BIG Thank You to our NHS HEROES!’ and will be wearing a t-shirt on the day with those words written on it, as well as the names of two members of staff at Pilgrim Hospital who sadly died during the Covid-19 crisis.

Proceeds from the event will go to NHS Charities Together.

James said: “What the inspirational Col Tom Moore achieved back in April was absolutely unbelievable and his superhuman efforts can never be matched. He raised an eye-watering amount of money for the NHS and what he did created a shining light in the darkest and most difficult of times for everybody.

“Even though I won’t get anywhere close to the incredible total raised by him, it’ll be a wonderful feeling to raise as much as money as possible for everyone who has given so much over the last four months and who has risked their own lives to save others.”
