Door has been closed on 2 to 4

The ‘Old Co-op’ is one of the most prominent buildings in Caistor’s market place and plans to hold an open event to look at its future use were keenly anticipated - but those plans have been cancelled.

As reported in last week’s Market Rasen Mail, a lot of work has been going on behind the scenes at 2 to 4 Market Place and the design team was keen to get feedback on the proposed plans.

However, following recent changes to Covid-19 rules, Caistor and District Community Trust, which is driving the renovation project with Lincolnshire Co-op, has reluctantly decided not to go ahead with the public consultation planned for this coming weekend, October 3 and 4.

Trust chairman Neil Castle said: “A number of events have already been cancelled that were due to take place in Caistor over the coming weeks and although the consultation would not be a large public gathering, the trust feels it would not be responsible to ask people to meet face-to-face even in smaller groups at this time.

“We have decided we will use digital, postal and other means to get the plans out and get feedback from interested parties.

“We are currently working on how we can do this to reach as many people as possible and details will be published very soon.

“It is a great shame we can’t go ahead with our consultation, but it is the right thing to do in the current situation.”
