Gainsborough musician celebrates 20 years in the business with compilation album release
Gainsborough musician Benjamin Spurr is celebrating 20 years of writing and recording his own songs with the release of a compilation album called 'Sacred Revolution 27:10', available now, on both Vinyl and CD format.
Ben said: “I started this journey in 2006, and it has given me many great memories, not least from collaborating with other local musicians whose talents are also captured on the record.”
Initially travelling to Fairview Recording Studio in Hull, Ben later travelled to Swanyard Recording Studio in Retford.
Ben said: “With the dawn of AI, perhaps using professional recording studios to record self penned songs will become a thing of the past, however, I think that would be a very sad thing, as there is nothing like the magic of walking in the studio with a rough demo, and walking out with a finely polished record that didn't exist just a few hours earlier.

“The drive home listening to your hard earned work is also very special.”
The songs explore a range of topics including love, faith, spirituality, loss and patriotism, and the chosen tracklist captures what Ben feels most accurately represents his act 'S.P.R.10 & SoulWay' from the beginning to present day.
He said: “I feel as an artist it is important to scratch beneath the surface a bit. You should be fearless in expressing your inner most thoughts and feelings and paint the blank canvas in a way that is unique and personal to you.”
Highlights of Ben’s career have included performing at the last three Laybo's festivals, other local venues such as 'Club on the Park' and 'Eight Jolly Brewers' and having several songs played on BBC Radio, as well as more local stations such as Lincs FM and Trentside Radio.
Looking to the future, Ben said: “I feel a bit disheartened with the way music is going, so for now I will enjoy reflecting on the blessings I've experienced over the last two decades.
“However, I have learnt not to rule anything out, as songwriting has become such an integral part of who I am.
“I'd like to thank every person who has been a part of the journey, either as a collaborator, producer, somebody who bought a record, supported me live or even simply sent me positive words of feedback or encouragement, it is all much appreciated.”
