WATCH: Man proposes to girlfriend inside shark tank at Skegness Aquarium

A diving-with-sharks experience turned into some-fin much more memorable for a couple visiting Skegness recently.

James Walsh and Paige Cook donned wetsuits and snorkelling gear to experience the big tank at Skegness Aquarium, supported by the venue’s trained staff.

But, little did Paige know, James had something even more memorable planned – grabbing hold of a large ‘will you marry me?’ sign amidst the corals.

Thankfully, Paige replied to the proposal with an ‘okay’ hand gesture.

The pair, from Buckinghamshire, are among more than a dozen couples to have chosen the Aquarium to pop the big question since the venue opened in 2015.

“We get, on average, one or two marriage proposals a year in the tank as part of the Shark Educational Dive experience,” a spokesperson explained. “We had the special sign created just for those occasions.

"Every single dive is a huge honour, being able to take part in such a wonderful experience. But coupling this feeling with something as special as a marriage proposal gives staff members a real sense of pride, especially when the couple are as nice as James and Paige.”

Skegness Aquarium is located at Tower Esplanade, and features a host of attractions and experiences, including its Jurassic Falls dinosaur park.
