80-development in Keelby given go ahead by planners

The Brocklesby Estate has been given the go-ahead for an 80-home development in Keelby.

Permission was granted by district planning officers for its proposals on land off Stallingborough Road.

The proposal is one of three major developments in the area, with a new medical centre and convenience store having already been given permission earlier this year.

Officers said the site was allocated in the local plan for 90 homes and the application demonstrated 80 could be accommodated on the site.

They went on to say: “The site is in the sustainable location of Keelby with good public transport links and all facilities/services within an acceptable walking distance away.

“The proposed vehicular accesses will not have a harmful impact on highway safety.

“It will not have a harmful impact on archaeology, heritage, drainage, ecology or increase the risk of flooding.”

The site forms part of the Hollies Farm complex and includes historic farmhouses.

As part of the plan, the Hollies Farmhouse would be retained, but the adjacent farm buildings will be demolished for access to the site.

Keelby Parish Council said it was “generally supportive” of the site, but had some concerns over safety, capacity and noise – particularly with the creation of a new access road onto South Street.

Nearby residents also called for more consideration over infrastructure such as the local school and said there were too many houses.
