Holiday firm Park Resorts has created the 2000 Horizons project which shows off the beauty of the East coastline with views from Skegness pier, looking out over the Wash and Gibraltar Point.

The project’s creators say the interactive experience, which features over 2000 images of views of the British coastline, shows off the beauty of the UK - and may even encourage more people to visit Skegness.

Via the link www.park-resorts.com/2000-horizons/ users can click on a point on the map and bring up images of geographically sequenced photographs, portraying regular sections of the 11,000-mile coastline of Britain, including the beach huts of Chapel St Leonard’s, Ingoldmells, and Kings Lynn in Norfolk.

The photos are described as unique, providing “an inspiring view of our island’s coastline – be it day or night, summer or winter, and rain or shine.”

The project also features areas along the British coastline said to be undiscovered by many, such as remote highlands and towns not immediately associated with stunning views like Hull and Barry Island. Park Resorts says that according to figures ‘staycations’ (holidays in the UK) have been on the rise year on year but people are sticking to what they know and not exploring different places along the coastline.

Kay Knight, marketing manager at Park Resorts, said: “After viewing 2000 Horizons, I think those few that are yet to embark on a staycation will be curious to explore what’s on our own doorstep and realise you don’t need to hop on a plane to see some truly stunning views. For those that already staycation every year, hopefully the project will encourage you to explore a different region this summer and see what else is out there.”
