Six appliances and an aerial ladder platform from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the outbreak at The Old Ship Inn, in High Street, Pointon, at about 2.45pm.

Crew members used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels, a 9m ladder, an extension ladder and a roof ladder to tackle the first-floor fire.

A spokesman for the fire service said the cause of the outbreak was yet to be determined and officers were unable to carry out investigations at present due to the structure being unsafe.

The incident led to the road being closed.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police said the fire at this point did not appear to be suspicious, that it may have been caused by an electrical fault, and stressed that no one had been injured.
