Village church fundraiser for Lottery bid

Lord Patrick Cormack was guest speaker at a dinner at Belton Park Golf Club held to raise match funding for a Heritage Lottery bid to make urgent repairs to St Denys' Church roof and spire in Aswarby. Last week thieves stole three tons of lead from the church roof as well.

Lord Cormack (left) spoke on explorers from Lincolnshire, particularly George Bass who was born and Christened in Aswarby. Parishioners plan to explore and interpret these links. The Lottery has already funded a development plan for repairs. The dinner is just one of a series of fundraisers.
