A popular online social networking platform for parents, childcare providers and private tutors is offering a free ‘newborn nanny’ for those who give birth nine months (40 weeks) after Valentine’s Day.

The job of the ‘newborn nanny’ will be to help new parents with the first three months of their baby’s life.

This will give them a chance to bond with their new family member with as little added stress as possible.

What will the nanny do?

The nanny can help with night time feeds and offer emotional support and practical advice, as well as help to organise a newborn’s schedule and medical checkups. Plus, they can cook for the family and help with household chores.

Am I eligible?

To be eligible for a ‘newborn nanny’, which is worth £6,000, you will need to register as a Childcare.co.uk member before the birth of your child.

You will then need to prove that your baby was born on 20 November 2020, by sending Childcare.co.uk a copy of the birth certificate.

Why is this ‘newborn nanny’ on offer?

The reason behind this newborn nanny initiative is due to a recent survey that the childcare website conducted on 3,500 of their members.

The survey highlighted some staggering insights around the struggles that new parents face.

A total of 78 per cent of new parents say that the first few months of being a parent is the most challenging, with 93 per cent answering ‘no’ when asked if they are comfortable being open about struggling as a new parent.

When asked what they struggled with the most during the first couple of months of being a parent, 42 per cent selected “lack of sleep”, 26 per cent said “loneliness”, while 21 per cent said “judgement.”

Richard Conway, founder of Childcare.co.uk, said, “Although we want this initiative to be fun, we also want to highlight that parent guilt is a very real thing, and it’s something that, as a company, we’re trying to help eradicate.

“There are thousands of parents across the UK who don’t get the help they need, because of the stigma that surrounds admitting you’re struggling.

“We want to give new parents in the UK some help in what we know can be an equally challenging time in their lives, as well as diminish the stigma around wanting some extra help.”
