Bassetlaw team brings home a Federation title

A team from Bassetlaw Indoor Bowls Club brought home the Federation Bowls Week title, beating 119 other teams to take victory.

The completion was held at Potters Leisure, Hopton-on-sea, Norfolk, at the beginning of March, and a rink from the Bassetlaw organisation were the eventual winners.

They were pitted against a strong team from Stamford in the final, which was watched by a crowd in excess of 300.

And it turned out to be a very exciting final for both players and spectators.

A club spokesperson said: “After a poor start, the Bassetlaw rink, faced with some very good bowling by their opponents, got their act together.”

“Some excellent bowling from each player was enough to overcome their opponents, much to the delight of the 60 strong group of Bassetlaw bowlers.”

The Bassetlaw rink who triumphed in Norfolk was made up of Brian Exley, Betty Dale, Eric Gresham and John Heppel.

Bassetlaw Indoor Bowls Club are working on a new indoor bowls initiative Bowls4U with North Notts Arena in Worksop.
