Caven claims men's darts title at Golden Palm resort

The first Lincolnshire Family Darts Festival took place at the Golden Palm resort in Chapel St Leonards.

This event brought together players from all over of the country and, with a guaranteed prize fund of £6,940, the standard was expected to be high and the fans weren’t disappointed with three full days of top tungsten action.

The weekend’s grand finale was the evening’s finals night, held on the main stage in the Club Tropicana,

The ladies’ pairs final was won by Kate Drake and Ronnie Johnson, who beat Diane Nash and Kerry Brown 3-1.

In the men’s pairs final, Kev Tomlinson and Simon Stanton beat Conan Whitehead and Kevin Smith 3-0.

The ladies’ semi-finals saw Diane Nash beat Kate Drake 3-2 and Mary Latham beat Jean Turner 3-1, before Nash beat Latham 4-2 in the final.

In the over 60s semis, Ron Mold beat Bob Harbour 3-1 and Ron Grant beat John Dye 3-2, before the final saw Mold crowned champion with a 3-2 win.

In the under 18s semi-finals, Andrew Alexander beat Nathan Richards 3-0 and Paul Reed beat Nathan Nimmo 3-2.

Reed went on to beat Alexander 3-0 in the final.

Jamie Caven beat Conan Whitehead 5-2 in the first men’s semi-final, before Jamie Robinson beat Paul Orchard 5-1.

Caven then beat Robinson 5-1 to claim the title.

The night ended with five exhibition matches.
