Designed to provide additional games for these divisions, following a slight reduction in teams for 2016, the cup will be a 40 overs a side competition with the winner collecting a trophy donated by Dewhurst Trophies of Boston.

League president Michael Marsh is also sponsoring the competition by providing balls for the semi-finals and finals. Freiston and Graves Park play the opening match on April 24.
