Glapwell II see off Lea Park challenge after dominant bowling display

Lea Park produced another poor batting display as they were beaten by Glapwell II.

Both openers made double figures and Andy Dewick top scored with 49, but poor shots all round accounted for Lea’s demise.

The grateful bowlers on this occasion were O’Connor, with 4-43, and Nick Bircumshaw, with 4-6, as an inexperienced lower order had no answer to Glapwell’s masterplan of bowling at the stumps.

Lea mustered 117 all out, one less than last week. Another 3-runs would have secured a batting point but again, lack of thought proved costly.

A better second half display saw Andy Slater take 2-37 and, with a variety of bowlers used in an attempt to unsettle Glapwell, three more wickets were shared.

But the away team secured victory in the 35th over to end another poor Park outing.

A series of dropped chances did not help proceedings, but the moderate total was nowhere near competitive on the day and Park must improve in the face of some tougher games to come.
