Emma tackles tough terrain at Belvoir and Peak District

Skegness & District Running Club were really putting the miles in this weekend up and down the country.

Several took part in the Belvoir Challenge, which consisted of an off road 15 miler and marathon, both of which contained plenty of hills and lots of mud to run through.

In the 15-mile event, Mark Sands continued his good run of form with a top-20 finish in a time of 1 hr 58 mins 53 secs.

Rob Cross was the second club runner home in a time of 2 hrs 14 misn 35 secs, followed by Martin Tebbs in a time of 2 hrs 22 mins 30 secs and Simon Pickwell in 2 hrs 32 mins 33 secs.

Tony Tomlin completed the course in 3 hrs 16 mins 33 secs, after having some time out recently.

Three of the club’s ladies had plenty of fun running the course together.

Rebecca Grice, Frances Mills and Lynsey Ballons all finished in a time of 3 hrs 48 mins 04 secs.

Samantha Cross clocked 4 hrs 05 mins 22 secs after running with a friend.

Emma Marshall-Telfer was the only club member to take part in the marathon and she ran an excellent time of 4 hrs 45 mins 48 secs in tough conditions, finishing as the 13th-placed lady.

Not content with just running a marathon on the Saturday, Emma travelled to the Peak District on Sunday to run the Darley Dale 15K.

This was another challenging trail run and Emma did superbly to finish in a time of 1 hr 33 mins 04 secs.

Travelling to the south coast this weekend was Craig Tuplin, who was competing in his first-ever half marathon at Brighton.

More than 9,000 runners took part in this popular event and Craig did himself proud by completing the race it in 2 hrs 08 mins 40 secs.

Many of the clubs other runners were very active in marathon training with no fewer than 11 runners completing 20 miles and several more running the half marathon distance.
