First Triples win of new indoor bowls season
The first open drawn triples competition of the indoor season at Boston Indoor Bowls Club took place over one Saturday recently. With generous sponsorship from Bill and Margaret Daubney, twenty-two teams, each with three bowlers, took part with the participants varying in age from eight to ninety.
Each team played three matches, with points gained for the number of ends won and for winning the game. The team of David Allen, John Clark and David Richardson came out on top with three wins giving them 29 points and a shot aggregate of +14.
In second place was the team of Jose Isaacs, Phyllis Desmond and Pete Sharman, on 25 points and +8, having had two wins and one draw. Close behind in third place was Mike Rhodes, Scott Gray and Peter Hoyles on 24 points and +7, also having two wins and a draw.
The bowling was competitive, yet friendly, with eight teams having a good record on the day, winning two of their games and losing just one, while a ninth team had one win, one draw and one loss.
