Boston United boss on the indiviual errors that are costing his team dear

Frustrated Graham Coughlan says Boston United must stamp out the individual errors which keep costing them points.

The Pilgrims slipped to a 2-1 defeat at home to Eastleigh at the weekend after they surrendered a lead by conceding two sloppy goals.

“It is basic errors, again we were the better team,” said the Boston boss. “I felt we were really good, but that won't go down too well with people because we have lost again.

“I thought the lads were really good and did everything we asked of them. You can't legislate or manage individual errors. They kill you. There's very little anybody can do because we played really well today, but the two goals we conceded are killers.

“We have been talking about individual errors since August. We can train all we want and do all the defensive work we want, but better players don't make those errors and that is what individual errors are all about.

“They are things that have been happening to us for a while. The lads will be feeling it as a group.

“No matter what I am doing, no matter what the players are doing, we are vulnerable. We are trying and giving it our all.

“This is a club problem. It was here last year, it is here this year. We can only sort it out between ourselves and everyone pulling in one direction.”

United went ahead in the ninth minute when Gregg Sloggett fired home a loose ball after Lenell John-Lewis’ shot was saved.

But the Spitfires levelled in the 25th minute when Archie Harris delivered a pinpoint cross for Harvey Saunders to head home.

Nick Townsend denied Lankshear after the break - but United's grandstand finale never unfolded after falling behind.

Eastleigh went ahead in the 58th minute when Josh Lundstram hooked a ball over the top for Blaire to beat Rhys Lovett, who was stranded after charging out of his box and missing the ball.
