Sleaford Sports Amateurs had wildly contrasting fortunes in the Lincolnshire League last week, following a four-=goal win with defeat by the same margin just a few days later.

A double from Jack Wright allied to Nathan Thompson and Aidan Meacher strikes and an own goal gave Amateurs a handsome 5-1 win at third-bottom Nettleham last Wednesday evening.

But the standard of opposition got tougher on Saturday as they travelled to third-placed Lincoln Moorlands Railway and were beaten 4-0 at the in-form side.

The results left the Sleaford side in 10th, but within touching distance of the two sides above them and with plenty of games in hand.

On Saturday they will hope to make up further ground when they travel to second-bottom Market Rasen Town who are without a league win for five months. Kick-off is 3pm.

Sleaford Town Reserves are one place below Amateurs after a midweek defeat to Wyberton at Eslaforde Park.

Ryan Rushen’s goal gave the hosts the half-time lead, but a second-half double from Fraser Bayliss gave the visitors a 2-1 win - a fifth straight victory.

Town have another blank weekend, but return next Wednesday with a home match against Nettleham (kick-off 7.45pm).
