Restructure ahead of start of Gainsborough Sunday League

The 2017/18 League season kicks off on Sunday with fixtures in all three Divisions of the Gainsborough and District Sunday League.

With teams withdrawing from the league and new teams joining it has meant a fairly radical re-organisation of the Divisions.

There are now nine teams in Division One and Division Two and eight teams in Division Three.

The top two Divisions will play each other home and away, while Division Three teams will play each other three times with costs being shared in the third game.

Five of the League’s teams were in action last Sunday in the Preliminary Round of the Lincolnshire County Sunday Cup with a mixed set of results.

Friendship FC won 4-0 at Waltham, while Rose & Crown won 2-1 at Saxillby Athletic and Kings Arms Haxey were 2-1 wimnners against Beckwood from Scunthorpe.

Westwoodside FC and Walkeringham both lost and can now fully concentrate on the League and local Cup Competitions.
