Millers boss Scott takes positives

The Millers lost out to a 97th minute winner scored my Ched Evans after they had earlier equalised through captain Alex Revell.

They fell behind after only nine minutes of the match when Chris Porter pounced on a mistake from the Rotherham defence.

“If you make errors or mistakes you get punished for them and that’s what we’ve had happen in the last few games and certainly against players of a higher standard than we are used to its even more difficult,” Scott said.

After the game he was looking to take the positive out of the match, he said they played against a strong side fielded by Blades’ manager Danny Wilson and Sheffield United will have a good chance of reaching the final of the cup.

The 97th minute stoppage time winner came just as the game was looking to be heading to penalties.

Evans capitalised on the amount of time and space he had been given in the Millers’ half of the pitch and fired in a low shot, from outside the penalty area, that came off the post and into the back of the net.

“You get kicked in the nether regions in the end, we’re not getting what we deserve but we can take a hell of a lot of positive out of tonight. We were terrific, really, really good against a strong side.”

“That’s football for you, these things happen you’ve got to play right to the end and you know our organisation and our energy when we won the ball back , we broke quickly and we passed it well and moved it from side to side.”

“The result shouldn’t detract from some of the fantastic performances we have had tonight,” he said.

Scott’s defensive worries will have been worsened after Mark Bradley had to be stretched off the pitch with a dislocated shoulder that he picked up in a challenge.

Scott said: “It’s a massive blow for us and to him and he’s fought hard to get back into the side and been an exemplary pro and he’s fantastic around the place.”

“With the problems were having defensively in terms of numbers it’s the last thing we needed. Our back four is only really four defenders we’ve got a problem there, which, we’re going to have to rectify.”

The hunt for a loan defender is continuing however Scott said that there are no immediate deals on the cards.

In their next match Rotherham will face Burton Albion at Don Valley Stadium on Saturday.
