Uneventful transfer window for Millers

Four players left the club and four players joined the squad, although only one of these is signed to the club and the rest are on loan.

Early on in the window goalkeeper Conrad Logan completed his spell at the club and returned to Leicester, leaving the team without a regular first team keeper.

Boss Andy Scott brought in young Chelsea keeper Rhys Taylor to fill the space between the sticks for a month.

On the final day of the window after four assured performances, with only some small questions being asked over his kicking, the Millers extended Taylor’s loan until the end of the season.

He has yet to play for Chelsea but has represented Wales U21s.

Two defenders were brought into the squad to bolster the team’s leaky defence – one on loan.

Richard Naylor an experienced 34-year-old with over 400 league appearances joined the club from Doncaster Rovers and is on a short term deal until the end of the season.

He is joined by Peterborough full-back Scott Griffiths who is on loan until the end of the season. Griffiths had not played for Peterborough for 20 months but spent time on loan at Chesterfield and Crawley.

The only attacking option brought to the club is Kieron Cadogan who is on loan from Crystal Palace until the end of the season.

He has made two appearances for Palace so far this year and Scott said he was brought in as the side needed some pace.

Scott hinted he was looking for another striker to challenge Alex Revell’s and leading goal scorer Lewis Grabban’s places in the starting line up but was unable to make any signings in time.

He is left with few attacking options after striker Chris Holroyd moved to Preston North End on an 18-month contract.

Neither club disclosed the fee but the deal should give Scott more flexibility with wages to potentially bring in another loan replacement.

As well as Logan leaving the club Brett Williams’ loan ended and he returned to parent club Reading.

Marcus Marshall is the only other player to have left the club during the window although this is on loan to Macclesfield on a one-month emergency loan.
