THE SHARP BLADE - Next few games vital for Sheffield United

SATURDAY’S result away at Wycombe was proof that there are no easy games in League One.

On paper it was a match the Blades should have won.

We went into the game second in the table, and unbeaten away from home so far this campaign.

Wycombe on the other hand were languishing in the drop zone having lost five on the bounce without scoring a single goal.

But despite dominating the match from start to finish we slipped to our second defeat of the season.

The good news is that despite the defeat we still occupy one of the two automatic promotion places.

The bad news is that Charlton seem to be pulling away in front of us, and just below us there are a whole bunch of teams concertinaed up.

It’s getting very, very tight up there - only two points separate ourselves in 2nd and MK Dons down in 9th.

A fact that makes our next three games absolutely massive - they are all against teams in the top nine, including the Steel City derby.

First up are table toppers Charlton at Bramall Lane on Saturday. It is vital the Blades get at least a point from this one to make sure we don’t start to lose touch.
