The 22-year-old Shipley parted company with the Bluebirds following their relegation from the EFL – and now signs an initial one-year deal at the Jakemans Community Stadium.

Capable of playing at centre-half of left-back, Shipley began his career at Norwich City, before enjoying loan spells with Accrington Stanley and Cheltenham Town.

He has scored three goals in 59 career appearances in League Two.

Yesterday the Pilgrims completed the eye-catching signing of attacking midfielder McBride following his departure from Rochdale.

The 25-year-old has put pen-to-paper on an initial one-year deal, having made 30 appearances in Dale's successful run to the National League promotion final.

He has played in three of the four meetings between Rochdale and the Pilgrims over the past two seasons.

Having appeared in the youth systems of Celtic and Blackburn Rovers, McBride has built up considerable experience north and south of the border.

He has played for Stenhousemuir, Queen's Park and Raith Rovers in Scotland, as well as a productive season with Gateshead in the National League before linking up with Rochdale for a two-year spell.

A rush of signings over the past week has also seen Nicholas Pozo, Kai Mauro, Terrell Agyemang, George Ward and Jack Holmes join early summer signing Gavan Holohan at the Jakemans Comnmunity Stadium.
