Sleaford Town chairman Dean Williams announces decision to stand down

Dean Williams is to step down from Sleaford Town.

It marks the culmination of a three-year development plan which was launched when Williams first took on the role.

But Williams feels the time is now right to move on and allow the club to continue their next chapter.

He also added standing down now would give the club the maximum time to plan for the changes ahead of the new season.

A board statement said: “It is with a mix of deep gratitude and regret that we announce the resignation of our Chairman, Dean Williams, who has decided to step down after three remarkable years at the helm of Sleaford Town FC.

"His tenure has been marked by unparalleled dedication, visionary leadership, and an unwavering commitment to excellence that has not only solidified the club's structure but also propelled us to many historic achievements over the last 3 seasons.

“Under Dean's stewardship, STFC has experienced a period of stability, growth, and success, fostering a culture of ambition that resonates throughout the club. His strategic foresight and passion for football have been instrumental in our accomplishments, leaving a permanent mark on the club's legacy.

“While we are saddened by Dean's departure, we respect his decision and express our profound appreciation for his contributions. His leadership has been inspirational, and he will undoubtedly be missed by everyone associated with the club.

"We wish him the very best in all his future endeavours and are confident that he will continue to achieve great success.”

In the interim, Vice Chairman Rex Oliver will be stepping up as Acting Chairman.

The statement added: “Rex's extensive experience and knowledge of the club makes him exceptionally well-suited to guide us during this transition.

"We have full confidence in his ability to maintain the momentum and uphold the high standards set by his predecessor.

"The board will provide further updates to our fans, partners, and stakeholders in due course. We look forward to continuing our journey to success.”
