Sleaford Town keeper Kamm scores as Greens fight back for win

Young Sleaford Town goalkeeper Ryan Camm was also a jubilant goalscorer as the Greens came from behind to beat visitors Shirebrook Town 3-1 in the UCL Division One on Saturday.

Two goals in as many minutes by Kyle Onyon and Kamm saw Sleaford recover superbly after going behind in the first half, with Josh Parker adding a late third.

Boss Jamie McGhee said: “It was really tough conditions for both teams and we had to suffer a lot in the first half.

“Their goal came from a big deflection off our wall, so we were a bit unlucky in that respect.

“We tried a new system today which wasn't working so we went back to what we have been really good at and instantly you could see the change.

“When we go behind now, the character of the the group is different and we don't feel like we're going to be beaten.

"We keep going and keep grinding.”

On his young keeper netting, McGhee smiled: “Ryan's distribution is always good and we have said before he could probably get a goal with his kicking ability in these conditions.”

After conceding early against South Normanton Athletic a week prior, Sleaford again found themselves behind after only 13 minutes.

A free kick from distance was taken by Brad Newby, deflecting off the wall and heading towards the top corner. The deflection threw the young keeper off as he could only watch the ball hit the back of his net.

The second half seemed to show another level of intensity for the hosts and Onyon levelled the game on 67 minutes.

From just outside the box, he helped the ball onto his right foot, whipping his strike into the bottom corner.

Straight from the kick off, Shirebrook sent the ball straight up the pitch towards Kamm.

The young goalkeeper collected the ball, before clearing it towards Parker.

His pass was too straight, the windy conditions helping it to ease over Jak Toon and find the back of the net.

The whole squad wheeled away in celebration with the young shotstopper, who ran away in jubilation over scoring from his own box.

Late on, the visitors pushed high to get a late equaliser, but Sleaford took that opportunity for a sucker punch and scored a third in added time.

A counter attack led to Tansey-Potter running down the left and finding Josh Parker in the middle of the box, who tapped in from point blank range.
