After Liam Cotton put the Wongers ahead, it took a Harley Stanton equaliser to earn the point and joint boss Lewis Burchnall said: “I expected an entertaining game and it certainly was that

“We finished the first half strongly and should’ve been in front, then second half we really started to look dangerous in the final third. Liam is always a threat from set pieces and it was a brave header to give us the lead.
“We looked in control at 1-0 up, so we were a little shellshocked to suddenly find ourselves 2-1 down with not long to go. But the character and patience we showed to get ourselves back level was fantastic.
“Harley has a nice habit of scoring at that end of The Wong and he played especially well after taking a heavy knock in the first half.
“Although we would’ve liked three points of course, we’ll take a first point on the board against a good side and move on to this weekend at Lincoln Moorlands.”
In midweek, Horncastle wrapped up pre-season with a 3-1 win over RAF Coningsby.
