“You start to think like you belong there!” High five will give Boston United a psychological boost, says Craig Elliott

Craig Elliott believes Boston United will get a huge psychological boost from climbing into the National League North’s top five.

Dominic Knowles and Andi Thanoj scored the vital goals as the Pilgrims climbed into the play-off spots after beating Blyth Spartans.

And Elliott says his squad are finally in a position their performances have warranted.

“We’ve been trying to climb and get to that point,” he said.

“It’s important psychologically because you start to think like you belong there.

“I think performances have been good so it’s nice to see that on the league table.”

Following last Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat at Spennymoor, United have bounced back with vital wins against Farsley and the Spartans.

“I am a big believer in our performances. I was a bit flat after losing to Spennymoor as I thought we were excellent,” Elliott added.

“It gets you down a bit but the lads have responded really well.

“Blyth is a tricky one, we were playing them at the wrong time.

“They’re five unbeaten and they’re playing good teams as well.

“They’ve got good players and you can see they’ll gets results. But it’s a win and a clean sheet.”
