Holroyd makes most of Forbes Road COVID League’s Moving Week to leap seven places

Forbes Road Bowls Club’s Covid League Moving Week gave players lower down the league a one-off chance of climbing the ladder as they hoped to beat - and swap places with - their opponents.

Helen Holroyd was the league’s big winner this week as she moved up from 12th to fifth after defeating Ray Loughran in a tight game.

After four ends it was 3-3, but by the 11th Helen was leading 12-5.

Ray had the better of the next four ends and got back to 11-12.

By the 19th end Ray was 14 -17 down but Helen held on to win 20-14 to move up into the Blue group.

Ray dropped seven places to Orange group.

All the remaining matches were true to the form guide.

Graham Taylor (10th) held position after beating Syd Oldfield (17th) 20-13 while Ted Bloodworth (6th) beat Gordon Neal (13th) 18-12.

A big 28-11 win for Merv Pack (4th) over M. Gooderson (11th) put Merv back into the top group for next week.

Bill Yuill (9th) overcame Harry Maddison (16th) by two shots while Pete Sharman (7th) won by 3 against Tony Hall (14th).

Trevor Dunnington (8th) won 20-15 against John Mitchell (15th).

Because of numbers the top group played as normal with Dave Toynton beating both John Thorogood and Janet Loughran, Janet relegated following a tight 15-13 defeat to John.
