Bank Holiday date for the Superbikes

The thrilling spectacle of the British Superbikes is one of the big highlights on Cadwell Park's race calender, which has been unveiled.

The Bank Holiday weekend of August 27 to 29 is earmarked for the Superbikes meet, one of 25 events at the Lincolnshire Wolds venue.

The annual round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship returns to its traditional Summer Bank Holiday date, with triple champion Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne out to regain his crown.

But he faces opposition that which includes Superbike superstar Leon Haslam, plus crowd favourites Ryuichi Kiyonari, John Hopkins and many more.

Fans from across the UK will flock to Lincolnshire to see their heroes tackle the fearsome ‘Mountain’, bringing a party atmosphere to Cadwell Park.

Cadwell Park will host many more motorcycle events throughout the year, with almost every club in the UK paying homage to the venue.

This also includes historic action from the Classic Racing Motorcycle Club (June 3-5) and the Vintage Motor Cycle Club (June 24-26 and September 24-25).

Historic car racing fans won’t miss out either, with the spectacular Wolds Trophy firmly established as a nostalgic treat.

This year’s event on June 18 and 19 will feature a mixture of classic single-seaters and saloons from the 1950s through to the 1980s.

One week later an earlier era will be recalled at the Vintage Sports-Car Festival on June 24, with pre-war cars and a period feel to the off-track entertainment.

Followers of more modern machinery will be looking forward to Modified Live on April 24.

It’s headlined by the spectacular Time Attack Championship, which features fast and furious action against the clock, and there’s a host of demonstrations, rides, displays and off-track activities to enjoy.

The season is bookended with two stage rallies, offering all of the excitement from the forests within one single venue.

The Alan Healy Memorial Rally on April 10 will be the penultimate round of the new Motorsport News Circuit Rally Championship, while the popular North Humberside Stage Rally takes place on November 20.

Tickets for many 2016 events at Cadwell Park are now on sale from £10, with free entry for under-13s.
