Tom who took the Honda Racing Fireblade to his first victory in the series at Donington reflected on his win and said: “Claiming my first win in the Superstock 1000 class on Saturday was the sweetest feeling ever, and Sunday’s race looked set to be the same. For the race restart I was starting from pole position but due to a misunderstanding I missed the pit lane exit time, so was forced to start from dead last on the grid.

“I made my way through the pack to finish fifth, just 2.2 seconds from the win and claimed a new lap record in the process.

“If only the race had been the full 22 laps instead of 14. But, we will treat this one as character building, what we did is an achievement - last to fifth.”

Meanwhile Tim rode well for Buildbase Suzuki and was in the mix for the win in both races at Donington, finishing fourth in race one and, after leading the race for the first few laps he finished seventh in the second encounter.

The timetable for the Stock 1000 race is: Friday- free practice 11.55am and 4.40pm. Saturday - qualifying 12.45pm. Sunday - warm up 10.02am, 12 lap race 12.40pm.

Meanwhile at Cadwell birthday boy Todd Ellis and Charlie Richardson completed their qualifying in second place and started the first of two races from a front row grid position.

The two runner up spots give them 40 championship points (10 behind Kershaw/Charlwood) and second place in the rider standings with the next round to be run at Snetterton on August 21-23 as a support class to the British Superbike Championship.
